In order to fully respond to your suggestions we have asked Max Drake a medical herbalist practising in Bristol to join us as our Practitioner Support Advisor. Max trained as a medical herbalist at the University of Westminster. He knows first hand the challenges of setting up a dispensary, getting known and developing a practice. We have asked him to develop practical schemes which we hope will help both new and established herbalists and complementary practitioners. This issue of Plant and Bee also includes Max’s article on working in the NHS. The full article which appeared in the Journal of Holistic Medicine is available in PDF format.
Max can be contacted either through our office or via practitionersupport@herbalapothecary.com

As well as being able to offer reasonable introductory credit terms to new practitioners, we feel it is important to support our customer’s practices in any way we can. This includes sharing information on anything that seems relevant and of interest, and doing what we can to put you in touch with patients and other health practitioners. This will be done through our online practitioner directory.
We are also able to offer a dispensary service, where we send your prescriptions out directly to your patients. This is a new service that we have created in response to requests from some of the many practitioners who replied to our customer survey. For details on how this works see our herbal pharmacy.
